Freeman at Powtech with Lenterra DFF

Freeman Technology, powder characterisation specialists, will exhibit at Powtech (Hall 4, booth 547) a new technology for in-line process monitoring via an exclusive partnership with Lenterra Inc., manufacturers of optical flow sensor technology.

Lenterra’s Drag Force Flow-system (DFF) provides continuous, real-time data via optical fibres, enabling users to assess processes without the need to interrupt operations. A DFF sensor is mounted on a stationary base, and contains two optical strain gauges which are connected to an optical interrogator via a fibre optic cable. When immersed in a powder or flowing material, the sensor bends under the force of the flow and quantifies the drag force. The amount of bending is measured real-time, in-line, allowing the user to determine properties of their materials.

Powder tester
Freeman Technology’s solutions also include the FT4 Powder Rheometer, a powder tester which uses patented dynamic methodology, automated shear cells (in accordance with ASTM D7891) and a series of bulk property tests to quantify powder behaviour in terms of flow and processability. This is complemented by the new Uniaxial Powder Tester, which provides an accurate and repeatable measure of the uniaxial unconfined yield strength (uUYS) of a powder to assess and rank flowability.
