Van Beek largest vertical screw conveyor

Van Beek has produced its largest vertical screw conveyor ever. The conveyor, with a single piece 17,5 meter long screw, together with a second one of 14,5 meter, has been delivered to Feed Valid in Poederoijen (The Netherlands), a producer of cattle feed.

The ordering party Van Mourik Group needed the conveyors to fill silos of Feed Valid (previously Covaco) with toasted soya; a hot moist raw material. “Because of the sticky product an elevator was not an option; a stainless steel screw conveyor was needed”, says project manager Edwin Mentink of Van Mourik Group “This is why we approached specialist Van Beek,  the specialist in this field.” For Van Mourik Group, a manufacturer of elevators and screw conveyors itself,  this was the first cooperation with Van Beek. “Normally we focus on a market less familiar with stainless steel”, explains Mentink.
Both vertical screw conveyors are made of SS304 and have a capacity of 30 tonnes per hour. The pusher screws for filling the vertical screws were also supplied by Van Beek. The energy consumption of the long screw is 37 kWh; the other one takes 30kWh.
